Thinking About Graduation Cards…

Graduation is a tradition unlike any other in life. There’s caps, gowns, tassels, “Pomp & Circumstance”, hugs, family (usually in droves), high-fives, gifts, chest-bumps, smiles, doubled-handed handshakes, congratulations, a speech or two, and, of course, billions of pictures taken. It’s a big, BIG, deal that recognizes education accomplishments and welcomes diploma recipients to a new world!

And yet, the most important communication a graduate receives does not come from the diploma, or the valedictorian, or the commencement speaker, or even the fellow who signals that it’s ok to launch that cap to the moon. The words that matter, the most honored appreciation, the exciting congratulation, the deep-hearted affection, or the wisest advice — the words that matter the most to the graduate — are all almost exclusively reserved for the graduation card.

Those of you who have sent or recieved a graduation card know this is true. Parents, friends and family all put what they really want the graduate to know in the card. And today technology allows that message to be so much more meaningful, more powerful, (and for the sender, extremely easy).

Card providers, like the ones shown here to left, specialize in getting the message you want across to that special graduate. Some provide online graduation cards to be sent right to the recipient’s email box. Some allow for customization and printable graduation cards, and others allow for bulk ordering of traditional graduation cards. See for yourself!
